Ms. Ayesha Aziz, CFA
Managing Director
Ms. Aziz was responsible for setting up Pak Brunei Investment Company and succeeded in positioning it at the forefront amongst its larger and more established peers, in terms of size and profitability. Notably its external rating has recognized the company’s positioning and awarded it with a long term rating of [AA], one of the highest in the industry.
Ms. Aziz has rich and diverse experience in investment banking, asset management, treasury, and portfolio management. She was associated with the ANZ Banking Group for over ten years where, amongst other assignments, she worked on the Financial Engineering desk in ANZ London. Subsequently, Ms. Aziz was involved in establishing and managing business operations and subsidiaries of Pak Oman Investment Company, including a Microfinance bank and an Asset Management company, where she acted as a member on the board and CEO, respectively. She was also responsible for developing a regional investor base comprising private and public sector institutions, successfully raising equity for telecom, energy and financial sector transactions in Pakistan.
Ms. Aziz is an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration and a CFA Charterholder. She serves on the board of Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (formerly National Commodity Exchange) and is a member of the Board of Governors of St. Joseph’s College, Karachi.
Engr. Abdul Jaleel Shaikh
Group Head Operations
Mr. Shaikh brings with him more than thirty years of diversified experience in Project Management & Civil Engineering, Corporate Finance, Credit Administration, Human Resource Management and General Administration. Mr. Shaikh worked as an engineer for ten years in Saudi Arabia before joining Saudi Pak Industrial & Agricultural Investment Company in Islamabad. He remained with the Company for twenty years and was a key member of the senior management team involved in all strategic business decisions. He represented SAPICO on the boards of various manufacturing and service sector companies. Amongst other, these included Saudi Pak Commercial Bank, Saudi Pak Insurance Company, Fecto Cement Co. Ltd. and Japan Power Generation Co. Ltd.
Mr. Karim Hatim, FCA
Group Head – Advisory & Strategic Investment Group
Mr. Hatim has more than fifteen years of Investment Banking experience involving Business Development, Corporate Finance and Advisory Services, Treasury, Capital Markets and Credit Appraisal. He has conducted several specialized assignments in Finance, Audit and Tax.
As Investment Banking Head at Pak Kuwait Investment Company, Mr. Hatim was instrumental in reviving the deal pipeline of the Company and enhancing fee income. He led the entire process of successfully setting up a Non Bank Finance Company and a Brokerage House as subsidiaries of PKIC. During this time, he worked on several big ticket privatization and balance sheet restructuring mandates. Prior to that, he worked in senior roles at Ford Rhodes, Standard Chartered Mercantile Leasing Limited and Paramount Leasing Limited. He also served as Chief Operating Officer at NBP Capital Limited.
Mr. Abdul Hafeez, FCA
CFO & Company Secretary
Mr. Hafeez is an fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan. His work experience of eleven years is in Management of Corporate Affairs, Taxation and Audit.
Mr. Hafeez started his career from Ford Rhodes Sidat Hyder specializing in Audit and Tax within the financial services sector. He worked for two years at Industrial Development Bank of Pakistan where his major assignment was restructuring the Company’s Balance Sheet to facilitate new equity injection. He was associated with Pak Oman Group for three years in senior roles in Finance and Compliance and was a key member of the team responsible for establishment of Pak Oman Microfinance Bank (POMB). Mr. Hafeez subsequently headed the Finance and Treasury departments in POMB. He has been affiliated with Pak Brunei since inception.
Ms. Fareena Lodhi
Head of Corporate Banking
Fareena Lodhi is Head of Corporate Banking at Pak Brunei Investment Company.
Ms. Lodhi previously served as Head of Corporate Banking South Division at National Bank of Pakistan and was instrumental in setting up a fully functional corporate service factory (corporate branch) in Karachi. Having spent almost a decade with National Bank of Pakistan of which at-least four years at a senior management level position, she has a thorough understanding of Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Audit, Compliance, Branch Operations, and Credit Risk Management.
In addition to her role as Head of Corporate Banking South Division, she was given charge of the Investment Banking Division at National Bank of Pakistan in 2006. She has to her credit structuring of and participation in several non-recourse project financing transactions in various sectors including Power Generation, Fertilizer, Aviation, Shipping and Ports. She was also involved in lead roles for a number of syndicated finance transactions for Power Generation and Distribution, Telecom, Chemical, Aviation, Cement , PET Raisin, Towel, Denim, Textile and Financial sector companies. Her deal profile includes LBO and structured privatization transactions in Cement, Fertilizer and Edible Oil sectors. On behalf of National Bank of Pakistan she also handled advisory relationships with Port Qasim Authority and a private container terminal operator.
Ms. Lodhi is a graduate from Institute of Business Administration with a Masters in Business Administration (Finance). She was a member of the task force set up by IPDF to standardize public private partnership documents and served as a nominee director of National Bank of Pakistan on the boards of Sialkot International Airport and Nishat Chunnia Power Limited. She holds training certificates from IHRDC and Alchemy Pakistan for International Power Projects and Derivatives respectively.
Mr. Ahmed Ateeq
Head, Treasury Division
Mr. Ateeq heads Treasury at Pak Brunei Investment Company. He has several years of experience in fixed income products and markets. He was previously associated with Pak Oman Investment Company as Head of Corporate Treasury at which time Pak Oman became the only DFI to be appointed as Primary Dealer by the State Bank of Pakistan. At Pak Oman Asset Management Company, he successfully launched the largest fixed income closed end fund of its kind in the market. He has also previously worked with Jahangir Siddiqui & Company and ABN Amro Bank in Pakistan.
Apart from Treasury Management, Mr. Ateeq’s areas of specialization include development of distribution networks and bond structuring/ market making. Under his supervision, Pak Brunei currently has one of the most active bond trading desks in the market.
Mr. Ateeq is an MBA from Bahria University.
Ms. Amber Paracha
Head of Credit Risk
Ms. Paracha brings over 13 years of risk management experience to PBIC. She was associated with two reputed foreign commercial banks prior to joining Pak Brunei Investment Company in May 2010 as Head of Credit Risk. Ms. Paracha started her career as a management trainee in credit risk at ABN AMRO Bank N.V. in 1997. She grew within her role over the 11 years she spent there and was working as the Deputy Country Risk Officer till mid 2008. In her decade long association with ABN AMRO, she received extensive training as well as several opportunities to work on special assignments in Singapore, Hong Kong and the Amsterdam office of the Bank. In July 2008, she joined Barclays Bank in Pakistan as a Commercial Credit Director heading the Sanctioning and Credit Administration departments. She was instrumental in setting up the risk department to support the growth of the corporate portfolio of the bank.
Ms. Paracha holds an MBA in Finance from the Institute of Business Administration and was an overall bronze medalist in the MBA year.
Ms. Sadaf Aliuddin, CFA, FRM
Head, Middle Office & Operational Risk Department
Ms. Aliuddin has over 10 years of experience in quantitative assessment and monitoring of risk covering corporate and financial institutions. During her association with JCR-VIS Credit Rating Company Ltd, she supervised risk ratings of Commercial Banks, Non-Bank Financial Institutions as well as Corporate entities operating across various sectors. Her rating portfolio included companies in the Oil and Gas (exploration and marketing), Sugar, Textile, Steel, Hospitality, Shipping, Paper & Board, Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, Food, Construction, Telecommunication, Consumer Electronics, Automobiles and Leather industries. She led a number of rating teams and was a voting member of the final Rating Committee.
Ms. Aliuddin is an MBA from Institute of Business Administration (IBA). She is also a CFA and FRM Charter holder.
S Askary H Rizvi
Head Internal Audit
Mr. Askary brings with him over 23 years of multidimensional experience within the financial sector. During this period, he has held senior positions in operational and financial management in the areas of Leasing, Modaraba Management and Discounting. Mr. Rizvi has also worked on the floatation of utility bonds, due diligence in privatization transactions and the process for incorporation of Commercial Banks/NBFIs.
In addition to being a business graduate, Mr. Rizvi also holds LLB degree and has completed statutory training requirement of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.
Mr. Sultan Abid
Head of Compliance
Mr. Abid started his career from Citibank Pakistan in Marketing but moved on to the State Bank of Pakistan where he worked for more than 11 years in various areas including On-Site Inspection & Off-Site Supervision of Banks and DFIs. His assignments involved annual inspections of Commercial Banks, DFIs and Exchange Companies as well as more specialized and specific investigations. At Banking Supervision Department, Mr. Abid also managed the ADB assisted Microfinance Sector Development Project.
Mr. Sultan holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from IBA, Karachi. He is also an associate member of the Institute of Bankers, Pakistan.
